Types of Curtains – Must learn before purchase!

Now that you have done the whole of interiors, bathroom accessories, fitted bathtubs, installed furniture, placed appliances… something feels amiss. You have done the Window Blinds as well. Dramatically speaking at something that is already stated, curtains give you the final finishing touches.

Blinds allow the amount of light desired by you but an even more regulation on the amount of light, the cool or cold air and the final look of a complete home is given by nothing more than a window curtain drapery. You may use drapes to partially divide spaces and rooms as well.

Much depends on the kind of aesthetics you want to feel. There are various types of curtain drapes that help you make a complete home and serve different purposes. Here are some of the drapes that can be used in windows and other partial dividers of space. Look into them and analyze which suits you the best!

Casement Curtains

This drape is often fixed outside the window and is considered difficult to be moved on either side. You may have to look into the kind of Window you are using, as the windows that arc out and arc in make a huge difference in the placement of your casement drape. Windows that arc out keep the drape outside and not closing the drape means more of unwanted heat or light inside.

French Pleats

These pleats may be the most beautiful and aesthetic of all. The French penchant for anything that is aesthetic is evident in these types of Pleats. They use an ideal three pleats for each window. They are narrowed by a tape that crushes the cloth to make three pleats.

A special hook attaches the curtain to the track which also helps in keeping them as separate pleats on the track.

Pencil Pleats

One of the most commonly used Pleats, Pencil Pleats bear great looks and create a formal, beautiful, uniform structure of narrow uniform pleats. Since, the pleats are very narrow, they are called Pencil Pleats.

The tape binds the Pleats together to make it look Pencil thin. The Pencil Pleats when used at your windows are great value additions to your home.

Grommet Tops

Beautiful Showers and Bathtubs accommodate these types of Curtains where they can be hung through any Pole, Rod and Tension or Steel Wire. Grommet Top curtains pass through small holes placed at regular intervals where the excess cloth between the holes makes folds.

They look more beautiful than any other drapes. They slide on either side very easily. They are very attractive designs as well.

Thin Sheer Curtains

They are very transparent or translucent materials which are highly attractive and are good at light controlling but the thinness of these materials reduce the utility of these curtains.

They are embroidered with even beads and flowers and contemporary designs lend more charm to these curtains. They are the most attractive type of curtains and are suitable for master bedrooms and halls.

Curtains add beauty as well as privacy. Decide on the best always where best doesn’t mean what is best but rather means what suits you best!
